We saw these ladybugs on the top of Gudalupe Peak. When I first saw them, I thought they were the fruit of the bush they were clustered on, but on closer inspection discovered they were lady bugs. All of this type of bush were covered as thickly as this one, but I wasn't able to identify the bush.

Short-horned Lizard.  The kids saw and caught this horned toad.  It was so small! Red-naped Sapsucker.  First time I had seen this bird.  It's a male.  On the female the red doesn't cover the entire neck. House Wren.  Have seen lots of there, but this is probably my best pic.

Cacti and Yucca Soapweed Yucca ( Yucca glauca ) . The branches at the top of the stem is very rare to find, usually it is just a strait stem with a cluster of pods. Tree Cholla ( Opuntia imbricata ) . More tree cholla, I included this shot for the very cool spider web attached.

Gadwall. Male on top, female below. Somewhat plain looking bird, but I love the "gold highlights" on the male. Normally the male is quite a bit more dull looking, but they are in breeding season right now so he has more color than usual. Normally they look more like just a grey duck with a brownish head.
